Cosmic Hermit

Where does the time go? It feels like I only posted a few days ago but here we are a few weeks since my last update. I’ve worked on two models in my brief absence, this, and a skeletal warrior I’ll be posting on the Outgard thread over on Ammobunker (if you haven’t seen it, check it out).

This lone hermit claims to have fallen from the sky itself, and claims to be kin with the vicious phantoms that inhabit that zone. But surely one shouldn’t believe the delusional ramblings of a crazy old man…

Whilst I really liked the conversion I can’t help but feel the finished article is a little underwhelming. I”ll probably come back to it when inspiration strikes me. Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve it?

  1. Love it mate. You are just getting better and better! He looks like he is telling a macabre and woeful tale to an audience of none. I think the whole piece looks finished and amazing but, I don’t know why, I can imagine a dirty and crooked sign post directly behind him. One arrowed sign pointing to hell another pointing to limbo. Or something dark like that. Love your work mate my only complaint is that it’s too long between posts haha.

    1. Thanks! I think you’re bang on with this suggestion (I read the comment a little while ago but didn’t get round to replying). I’ve had a little mess around with some skeleton parts and balsa wood, and should have something to show for it soon. There’s a few projects on the go but I feel kind of bad about posting my blu-tack wips and only basecoated models. Is it something you’d be interested in seeing?

    1. Cheers 🙂 Sometimes looking at the same model for ages (and it has been a while) can make you start questioning the conversion and the paintjob. It’s good to know he/it isn’t as boring as I think he is haha!

  2. Nice! Cool character as always. I’d have to agree with Imperialrebelork, a sign post behind him would work a treat or maybe even a little familiar on his shoulder whispering insanities into his ear. Good to see your work again.

    1. Yeah, the signpost suggestion was a good one! I’d like to make some familiars for him in the guise of the tentacles on his base but I’ve run out of forsaken bits. Once I source some more he should be getting some “company” haha

  3. Really like this and I agree that the “scene” needs a little more. Though a sign reading “limbo” in one direction and “limbo” in the other might be more appropriate. Maybe the lack of contrast between the skin and the material draped over his shoulder is washing out the scene a little?
